Artist's Comments

My friend, some of my friend's family, and I made this in South Padre Island. His spine along his neck is made from seashells, as well as his fangs. We had a lot of fun making him!

Wow! That's too cool! It's more of a sculpture collaboration submission, when I think about it!

I wish you had somehow gotten a bit higher to crop out the person in the upper left, it kind of distracts from the subject here.

I always find sand sculptures a little sad, knowing their beauty goes back to the sea. :cries:

Thanks!

I was going to cut the person out of the picture, but with him in the background you have a kind of reference for how big this sand sculpture really is.

Oh, that's true! I didn't think of that. ^^; I wonder if there was something else that could have been used for reference, but photography is all about the moment.

This would have made a cool series of photos if you could have taken some close-up shots of various parts of the dragon to show the detail. Was there any chance of a shot with the ocean as the background or was it too jam-packed with beach-goers to make it worth it?

I would have liked to see it in person; sand sculptures are really amazing.

This is crazy insane!
my family would never help me do something like this
they just wouldn't see the point
